France turns hot Destination for Indian Students
With the number of Indian students heading to France doubling in just two years time, France proves to be one of the hottest destination for Indian students.A decade ago, the Annual number of Indian students in France ws just 400. By 2017, it had shot up to 5000. Which increased to 8,000 in last year.It is expected that it will reach minimum of 10,000 students by the end of this 2019. French hopes to double the number yet again.On 1st May, 2018 France and India signed a agreement for Mutual recognition of Academic Qualifications. It was the first such intergovernmental agreement that India has entered into.As per that agreement the H.S.C., PUC, AISSCE, CBSE qualifications and or equivalent recognized by the Government of India, Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Degree, Ph.D. etc. are mutually recognized by both the countries.
The Embassy has developed a highly attractive visa policy for Indian students, which includes the option of a 2 year employment visa in France after the completion of post graduate studies. Furthermore the Indian alumni who hold a Master’s or higher degree from State recognized French institutes are eligible for 5 year short stay visas.
Indian Alumni with French degrees enjoy many opportunities in India as more than 500 French companies, employing approx 3,50,0000 people are operating currently in India.
